Press Release

  • The Department of Family Services (DFS) Dilkon Field Office participated in the Dilkon community’s Christmas light parade on December 10, 2025.

The theme for the parade was “Hometown Christmas.” The DFS entry highlighted the Navajo Division for Children and Family Services (NDCFS) vision of, “Weaving children and family services together to strengthen generations through k’é.”

The parade was an opportunity for the DFS to be visible in the community and to show local families that they are there to support them. It also helps to build trust, create positive interactions with staff, and communicate with the community about services in a friendly and festive setting.

“Events like this help strengthen relationships with local partners and remind the community that we’re committed to their well-being,” DFS Program Manager Crescentia Tso said.

The DFS Field Offices provide specialized human services to children, adults, and elderly who are experiencing abuse, neglect or crisis, and help to maintain healthy and stable families on the Navajo Nation. In addition, DFS provides quality services to individuals and households experiencing temporary financial hardship in meeting their short-term basic needs, immediate emergency needs, and home energy needs.

NDCFS Office of Executive Director (OED) also participated in the Office of the President and Vice President (OPVP) Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 9, 2025, at the Navajo Nation Veterans Memorial Parking Lot. The ceremony included a Christmas light parade leading up to a Christmas tree lighting in Veterans Park.

The OED provided cups of hot chocolate to visitors. In addition, OPVP was able to give out jackets donated to the NDCFS by Operation Warm.

NDCFS shared a message with the community to be safe this holiday season, take care of our children, watch out for our elders, and enjoy quality time with each other.
