What Does the General Assistance Program Offer?
Financial Support
Our program provides temporary financial assistance to eligible individuals, helping cover essential needs such as rent, utilities, and food. We understand that unforeseen circumstances can impact financial stability, and our goal is to offer support during these challenging times.
Case Management
We believe in a personalized and holistic approach to financial assistance. Each participant in the General Assistance Program is assigned a case manager who works collaboratively develop an Individual Self-Sufficiency Plan (ISP) to identify both long-term and short solutions to overcoming barriers and connect individuals with additional resources and services.
Employment and Training Services
Beyond immediate financial aid, we are committed to empowering individuals to enhance their employability. Our program includes access to employment and training services, equipping participants with the skills and resources needed to secure sustainable employment opportunities.
Cultural Component
Our program is culturally inclusive in its approach by recognizing and respecting the unique culture of the Navajo Nation. We strive to integrate traditional values and teachings into our services, ensuring that assistance is provided in a manner that is respectful and understanding of the Diné culture.
Who is Eligible for General Assistance?
To qualify for the General Assistance Program, individuals must meet specific eligibility criteria. Navajo tribal members living in the states of New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah will be referred to the Navajo Financial Assistance Unit to apply for General Assistance. All other Navajo tribal members living in other states should apply with their state General Assistance programs.
