  • A short film will be screened during Movie Night from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Sage Memorial Hospital in Ganado, Ariz., on December 4, 2025. The film is called, “SUNRISE Ha’ii’ah.”

The film, by Navajo Nation TV and Film Productions, is about a child’s journey back to the Navajo way of life after being placed in a non-Indian home. It depicts experiences similar to Navajo children who are placed in homes not compliant with the federal Indian Child Welfare Act.

The Navajo Indian Child Welfare Act Program (NICWAP) will also be on hand to conduct a special presentation. The NICWAP was established to promote the stability and security of Navajo families by providing services to preserve and reunite Navajo families who are located off the reservation with their children who are subject to removal from their parents for placement in foster care or adoptive homes.
